Here is the picture I took before the video below was shot. I captured this photo using a Nikon D90 and an 18-200mm lens on Day Three of my 2,000 mile photo-adventure. It was taken in a small Illinois town called Mahomet. The town was supposedly named after a Masonic Lodge, which was in turn named after the prophet of the same name.
Saturday afternoon marked Day One of “There and Back Again: A Photo-Journey of 2,000 Miles”, and included a brisk photo-shoot at Lake Michigan, where I photographed two Benton Harbor Lighthouses (pictured right). After, I drove down to Mahomet, Illinois. Today marks Day Three, I’ve just 200 miles behind me, with most of the journey still to come. I’m currently lodged along the muddy banks of the Sangamon Rivier. I’m in the midst of of record snowfall for the month of December in this state. Hopefully the weather will clear enough by Christmas Eve for the second leg of the Journey to St. Louis, where I will will stay just blocks from a stretch of the historic route 66.
