Crashing Lighthouse Wave

Braving the cold, snow, and errant waves, I captured this shot of a Lighthouse in Michigan. I’ve rarely seen such a lighthouse wave.

I took this photo yesterday, at one point it started snowing and visibility was only about 50 feet and I couldn’t see the lighthouse, but then the sun came out and I was able to capture this scene.

Weather can change on a dime on Lake Michigan!

There and Back Again: A Photo-Journey of 2,000 Miles, Day 3

Lost & Frozen

Saturday afternoon marked Day One of “There and Back Again: A Photo-Journey of 2,000 Miles”, and included a brisk photo-shoot at Lake Michigan, where I photographed two Benton Harbor Lighthouses (pictured right). After, I drove down to Mahomet, Illinois. Today marks Day Three, I’ve just 200 miles behind me, with most of the journey still to come. I’m currently lodged along the muddy banks of the Sangamon Rivier. I’m in the midst of of record snowfall for the month of December in this state. Hopefully the weather will clear enough by Christmas Eve for the second leg of the Journey to St. Louis, where I will will stay just blocks from a stretch of the historic route 66.
